Walk Run Wag 2014 is over, but the great work supporting Milwaukee’s neediest animals — support you made possible — is just beginning.
Thanks to everyone who was part of this day, whether you were a walker, runner, sponsor, volunteer or passerby who noticed all the activity this morning at Hart Park and stopped to show some love.
And runners, wanna check your time? Here’s the link: http://m.raceresults360.com/v1/index.html?racekey=uR8Lc8 .
See you next year!
This is it…Walk Run Wag 2014 is just hours away.
Early Packet Pick-up for everyone who has already registered is today, 4-7:30 p.m. at MADACC, 3839 W. Burnham. Due to a large convention at Miller Park, we strongly recommend you avoid taking I-94 around rush hour this evening to reach us. Side streets will be a better bet!
If you have registered but can’t stop by MADACC this afternoon or evening, you can pick up your packet tomorrow at Hart Park before the event. Packet pick-up will be available beginning at 8 a.m. We recommend you get there early to avoid lines. Due to the convention, heavy traffic is expected around Miller Park 7-10 a.m. tomorrow as well. Please factor this into your travel plans so you don’t miss a minute of Walk Run Wag fun!
Haven’t registered yet? Don’t worry: you can also register tomorrow, beginning at 8 a.m., at Hart Park. We will have a limited number of t-shirts on-hand for people registering tomorrow. Once they’re gone, we’ll take your contact information and make sure you get your t-shirt in the mail after the event.
If you have already registered, your t-shirt will be included in your race packet.
The latest weather report says mid-70s and partly cloudy for race time, with the rain waiting until late in the afternoon. Sounds like perfect weather to Walk, Run and Wag…See you there!
Thanks again to all our sponsors, supporters and volunteers…and especially to you! Now let’s get out there and have some fun!
UPDATE: We’ve added several bits of news since posting this on Wednesday…enjoy!
As we gear up for Saturday’s event, we want to take a moment to say thanks to all of our great sponsors for supporting this year’s Walk Run Wag. We couldn’t do the event without them!
We also couldn’t do the event without you, our amazing runners, walkers, volunteers and fundraisers. THANK YOU!
UPDATE: Check out the nifty Walk Run Wag 2014 shirts! Did you register online? You’re getting one when you pick up your packet! Planning on registering on Saturday at 8 a.m. before the event? We’ll have shirts available on a first-come, first-served basis for those who register on Saturday. When we run out, we’ll take your information and get one to you after the event. We will also likely have some shirts for sale after the event even if you didn’t walk or run (or wag) with us. Watch this space for updates.
UPDATE: Don’t forget, Early Packet Pick-up is at MADACC, 3839 W. Burnham St., 4-7:30 p.m. Friday, June 20. And, thanks to American Veterinary Clinic, the first 200 people at Early Pick-Up will get treat bags! Can’t make Early Packet Pick-Up? No problem. Get your racing bib and t-shirt (if you registered online) starting at 8 a.m. at Hart Park on Saturday. Remember: race time for the 5k, humans only, is 9:30 a.m. The 5k for humans with dogs starts at 9:45 a.m. Are you a human without a dog who signed up for the human 5k but want to run with a human friend who brought a dog? That’s fine, but that means you have to start at 9:45 a.m. The 9:30 a.m. start is for humans only. The walk is two miles out and back. Don’t want to do the full two miles? Not a problem. Just turn around at any point. Walk Run Wag is all about having fun and helping animals.
And for folks who’ve asked, yes, there is still time to fundraise online before Saturday’s event. Click here to get started.
Speaking of this year’s event…let’s talk post-race activities! Many of our sponsors are providing extra services and support to make the day even better:
POST-RACE ACTIVITIES (10 a.m. – 2 p.m.)
UPDATE: Post-race activities are open to the public! You do not need to be registered for Walk Run Wag to enjoy them!
Agility: Big thanks to Agility Possibilities, which is donating equipment and time to staff a fun course for your pup for free! Donations are encouraged and every penny will go to help the animals at MADACC.
Lure Coursing: Big thanks, too, to For Pet’s Sake, which will be running a large lure course. It’s $5 per dog, per run (cash only, please!).
Pet Painting: Some folks call it “paw painting,” but we call it a bunch of fun. While You Were Out Pet Sitting will be running the “studio,” with all proceeds going to Friends of MADACC! Thanks, While You Were Out!
Microchipping: On-site microchipping for $20 and tags for $5 and $10. UPDATE: Lost Dogs of Wisconsin will also be on hand to check that your dog’s microchip is in good working order. Microchipping and tags are the keys to getting a missing dog home faster!
Vendors, rescue representatives, food trucks, beverage tents and entertainment will also be part of the fun!
OUR SPONSORS ROCK!
Walk Run Wag 2014 received additional support from these sponsors, many of whom will also be at Saturday’s event, so please say thank you when you see them!
See you Saturday!

CHILLAXING to the tunes of MATHEW HAEFFEL, performing live at the bandshell
Browsing our great gathering of VENDORS
Chatting with representatives from local RESCUES and meeting some ADOPTABLES (tummy rubs optional but encouraged)
NOSHING at the on-site FOOD TRUCKS
SIPPING or SLURPING (hey, we don’t judge) at the BEVERAGE TENTS
PEOPLE-WATCHING, only slightly less entertaining than DOG-WATCHING

Want to make the most of your Walk Run Wag 2014 experience? Want to spread the word without saying a thing? How about sporting this great shirt:
Yeah, we thought so. Register online today and start a fundraising page to collect additional donations to benefit the animals. Raise $150 or more through your fundraising page and get this cool limited edition quarter-zip performance pullover with the Walk Run Wag logo (shirts will be delivered after the event).
During the online registration process, after selecting your race day t-shirt size, you’ll be given the option to “Create New Fundraising Page.” Choose your charity — Friends of MADACC is the only option, but you still have to select it! Follow the prompts to complete registration and payment. Then tell friends, family, co-workers, neighbors and anyone else about your page.
Just remember: Online registration closes 11:59 pm Sunday, June 15. Don’t wait!
That’s right, you’ve got just ten days left to register online to make the most of your Walk Run Wag 2014 experience!
Top Ten Reasons to Register Online
10. If you register online, you can follow the prompts to build your own fundraising page and help Milwaukee’s neediest animals even more by collecting additional donations.
9. Register online now and you can talk/persuade/guilt friends and family into joining you and forming a team.
8. Registering online saves paper — and trees! It’s the greenest way to go.
7. Register online now to motivate yourself to step up your workouts just a bit.
6. Register online now to motivate yourself to get your dog ready for the race or walk, too! If your pooch isn’t used to walks or runs that length, it’s important to ease him into it. (And have that water bowl handy!)
5. Registering online now really helps race organizers plan, ensuring we’ve got enough amenities — but also that we aren’t wasting valuable dollars (which could go directly towards helping the animals) on too much of this or that.
4. If you don’t register online, you’re not guaranteed an event t-shirt — and trust us, they’re really cool this year.
3. Registering online also means you get to avoid the crowds at day-of registration, which starts at 8 a.m. on Race Day.
2. The first 200 pre-registered people who pick up their packets the day before Race Day will also take home a treat bag. But you gotta be in it (now) to win it (then). Early Packet Pickup is Friday, June 20, at MADACC, 3839 W. Burnham St., 4-7:30 p.m.
1. When Race Day, June 21st, arrives, you’ve already registered and picked up your packet with race bib and t-shirt. That means you get to sleep a couple hours longer. If that’s not reason enough to register online before June 15, what is?!
We’ve compiled questions (and answers!) into a handy-dandy FAQ page. Check it out and find out about all the fun things planned for Walk Run Wag 2014.
Have you registered yet? What are you waiting for?! Remember: online registration closes at 11:59 pm Sunday, June 15.
We will have day-of registration starting at 8 a.m. at Hart Park, but we can’t guarantee you’ll get a t-shirt if you wait until then, and the lines can be long.
So don’t start the day stressed: register online before June 15th!
Come to Hart Park on June 21st for this year’s Walk Run Wag…and then stay for the fun that follows!
From 10 am until 3 pm, we’ll have lure coursing thanks to For Pet’s Sake and Agility from Agility Possibilities!
Want more? We’ve got more!
Get your dog microchipped for just $20! Pick up a new ID tag ($5-10), engraved while you wait!
Still not enough?! Not a problem!
Paw Painting will be provided by While You Were Out Pet Sitting, with all the proceeds going the Friends of MADACC!
What else? Well, how about all the great vendors, sponsors and rescues who will be on hand, including:
American Natural Premium/Burlo Pet
Bark N’ Scratch Outpost
City Pet Market
Fresh Is Best
Fromms Family Foods
General Pet Supply
Golden Retriever Rescue of WI
Mayfair Animal Hospital
Modern Woodmen of America
While You Were Out Pet Sitting Service
We bet all that activity is going to make you hungry and thirsty. Have no fear: a beer and soda tent, as well as a food truck, will be onsite.
So make a day out of making a difference!

1. Go to our online registration page.
2. Choose which event your team is participating in (walk, run, run with dog, etc).
3. You’ll be prompted for basic registrant information, and given the option to “add another registrant.” You do not need to register the entire team, just individuals you’ll be paying for.
4. Check the waiver box and then click “continue.”
5. Select t-shirt size(s).
6. Choose “Create or Join a Fundraising Team.” Then, if you’re the team’s captain, choose “Create New Fundraising Page.” If you’re joining an existing team, choose “Join Fundraising Team.”
7. Choose your charity — Friends of MADACC is the only option, but you still have to select it!
8. Choose your fundraising goal.
9. Write a personal message about your goal.
10. Complete the registration and payment as prompted.
11. The most important step — pat yourself on the back for a job well done!
