Walk Run Wag is an annual chip-timed 5k run you can do with or without your dog. It’s also a one- or two-mile walk for two-legs (you) and six-legs (you and your dog). Post-race activities include lure coursing and agility, vendors, pet rescue organizations, adoptables, live music and much more. There is an additional fee for some activities; other activity providers request a donation. Food and beverages are available on-site for purchase. Can’t make it to Hart Park that day? Register for our sleep-in option! We get your support and you get our t-shirt — and the chance to sleep late that morning!
Walk Run Wag 2017 will be 9 a.m. Saturday, July 8 at Hart Park, 7300 W. Chestnut St. in Wauwatosa. Online registration is now open, so register today! We look forward to seeing you!
Net proceeds from Walk Run Wag for MADACC support two goals: 1) reduce the number of animals taken in by MADACC through outreach, education and spay/neuter programs for the community; 2) increase the number of animals available for adoption through facility improvements, enrichment and foster program support.
We offer online, mail-in and day-of registration options. Online registration is now open. If you prefer to register by mail, please download and print the form with attached waiver here. Remember to sign the waiver before mailing the form with your payment; we cannot process registrations received without a signed waiver. While day-of registration is available on-site beginning at 7 a.m., due to long lines we strongly recommend registering in advance.
WRW2017 mail-in registration closes June 30. Online registration closes July 2.
You will receive a confirmation email whether you registered online or via the mail-in option.
Based on feedback from previous WRW participants, we are streamlining our registration and fundraising options. We will not be doing team registration or team fundraising for WRW 2017. However, if you want to form a team on your own and show up to the event in matching costumes, we would love that! The more, the merrier!
Early packet pickup occurs at MADACC, 3839 W. Burnham St., the day before the event. Packet pick-up is also available at the event site on race day. Watch this space for additional details as we get closer to WRW2017.
Your race entry is non-refundable. There are no refunds for canceled entries, nor can your race entry be deferred until next year. Walk Run Wag is a rain-or-shine event. Thanks for your understanding.
More Ways to Support WRW
Yes! Individuals can create fundraising pages through June 30th. Based on feedback, there will not be a team fundraising option for WRW 2017.
Check out the cool things individual fundraisers will receive based on how much they raise:
Raise $50, which pays for microchipping two cats or dogs: Receive a special edition Walk Run Wag 2017 shirt!
Raise $250, which covers the cost of ringworm treatment for two cats: Receive the special edition shirt plus a $40 voucher good for Friends of MADACC merchandise!
Raise $500, which funds FIVE (!) spay/neuter surgeries for pets from low income families: Receive all of the above, plus you get to pick the names of one cat and one dog at MADACC!

- When you register for Walk Run Wag 2017 online, you’ll get the option to create a fundraising page. It’s fast and free and you can customize it with your own photos and your personal story about why you support us.
- If you registered by mail, or signed up online earlier in the year, you can still create the customized fundraising page for free here.
How can I become a sponsor?
We love our awesome sponsors! Each year, our sponsorship team works hard to make sure there is a level of support that will fit your organization. If you are interested in being a sponsor for this year’s event, please download our four-page WRW2017 Sponsor Packet which includes the sponsorship form and all the information you need to know about different levels of support. Please note: we must receive all sponsor materials before June 15; see sponsor packet for additional information.
If you are a rescue group interested in having a presence at this year’s event, please download the WRW2017 Rescue Booth Application; the one-page document includes the form to fill out and a quick primer about everything you’ll need to know before the big day.

Day of the Event
We get wet! Walk Run Wag is a rain-or-shine event. There are no refunds so bring your umbrella or raingear!
We do offer day-of registration but encourage advance registration due to long lines the day of the event.
We offer early packet pickup the day before as well as on race day. We will be posting details about WRW2017 packet pick-up times soon.
Bring sunscreen! Also good to bring: a camera and raingear. We will have water for you and your pet. Plan on leaving valuables at home, as there is no gear check.
All friendly dogs are welcome, but please consider whether your pet enjoys large public settings with noise, lots of other dogs and people. If you think it would be stressful for your dog, you should leave him home. We recommend that all dogs’ vaccinations be up to date. Friends of MADACC greatly encourages spaying or neutering your pet.

Yes, porta potties will be located near the start/finish line.

While sidewalks and other areas of the park are paved and fully accessible, post-race activities will be set up in a grassy area.
The 5k races are timed using disposable chip technology. Your chip will be attached to your bib. The walk is not timed so participants do not receive a bib.
